Grief Therapy in San Francisco, CA
Grief isn’t only about death. In fact, it’s much more often about loss in any form. Many people grieve the loss of relationships, community, their bodies or health, careers, or a sense of belonging — sometimes the loss of faith or of an old version of themselves.
What you might be feeling
Waves of sadness, anger, or guilt
Disconnection from others
Questioning identity or purpose
Avoidance or emotional shutdown
Feeling like you’re “not grieving the right way,” or don’t want to “let go” or “just move on” but you know can’t stay where you are either.
How I Help
The research on grief is very clear: the most important thing is to share your experiences out loud with another person that feels safe and secure.
Together we’ll make space for your grief without judgment. I integrate mindfulness, existential, and emotion-focused work to help you find meaning in change and reconnect with life.
It’s not about moving on or letting go, it’s about accepting what is truly lost while transforming your relationship to what you lost. Whether that’s a person, your old identity, community, or something else.
We’ll explore rituals that could help you with this transformation, and how you can start to re-integrate yourself into a new life that is big enough for the loss you’ve been through, and whoever you are on the other side of it.
